I was having contractions - woohoo! But the one nurse was like oh - lookie at that monitor you're having some good looking contractions - they must not be too strong though because you don't seem to be feeling them. I just gave her a look - hell yes I was feeling them. I had been since I got home to pack my bags, I was just trying to stay calm with a surgery looming that would bring my little one into this world! Woohoo. Kirby was watching tv - I think the travel channel or maybe the discovery channel?! and I was all changed and hooked up to monitors and iv's. Surprisingly doing everything went by pretty quick and it was time for Kirb to get into his gear!
He looked great in his paper suit, hat and booties.
The room was like any operating room in the movies or tv shows. White and sterile. There was also another room coming off of it, or maybe a hallway. I'm not too sure. I'm glad that I have remembered this much almost 5 months later. The anesthesiologist was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure I was shaking from nerves and it was a little cold. I had to get a spinal tap and I was having contractions, so rolling over onto my side and curling up into a ball over my basketball belly wasn't the easiest thing for me to do, let alone hold still. But I tried. The spinal was quick and burned a little, but not as bad as I'd prepared myself for. Woohoo!
Back to laying flat and waiting for the numbness. I wasn't supposed to be able to feel my toes, but I could wiggle them so I was freaking out. They were cleaning my belly and I'm pretty sure I was splayed out for all the world to see, but I was worried about the fact that I could still wiggle my toes. I think I was a little loopy from the medicine. Kirb definitely agrees. They brought him in at 4:20 and it was time.
Do we look nervous??? - nahhh
I couldn't feel anything, my toes no longer wiggled, and my fingers were even tingling. Not sure if that's supposed to happen...oh well. Kirb hid behind the blue curtain the whole time - he doesn't like that kind of stuff. Me personally - I wish he could've gotten the nurses to take more pictures! It was super fast. I don't think they even started cutting until after they brought Kirby in. At 4:30 exactly baby girl no-name was born.
7lbs 6ozs 20.5 inches long - 4:30pm
Kirby = Daddy = Love
Yay - it was mommas turn :)
One little happy :)
To be continued...
